The BERNARD Gruppe is planning technically sophisticated traffic light control systems for all modes of transport for the Brandenburg state capital of Potsdam.

The expectations of road users regarding flexible and low-waiting-time control systems are clearly noticeable. In addition, the justified demand for a strengthening of ecomobility is increasing. With our expertise and knowledge of the diverse possibilities of vehicle detection and demand-based traffic light planning, we can respond to a wide variety of traffic situations, requirements and intended uses.

Some examples of adaptive traffic light control include

  • transit signal priority (TSP)
  • traffic-responsive ramp metering to protect road sections from traffic overload
  • camera-based queue monitoring for temporary traffic assignment to less critical areas
  • immediate green light for pedestrians when both sides of the road are congested
  • green wave for cyclists to increase the attractiveness and promotion of environmentally friendly means of transport

The aim of the BERNARD Gruppe is to use the new possibilities of modern detection and identification methods such as AI and Car-to-X (C2X) for a situation-, city- and environmentally friendly traffic organization.
